Who We Were: A Snapshot History of America

by Michael Williams, Richard Cahan, and Nicholas Osborn

The Girls At the Y

From the collection of Mike Williams (one of the co-authors of my new book) comes this small set of big photos. Sometime in the late 40s/early 50s a Chicago camera shop placed an ad inviting amateur photographers to come down to a local YMCA and take photos of a bevy of beautiful models the camera shop hired for the occasion. Judging by the number of used flash bulbs scattered around the ladies' feet the camera shop must have made a nice return on their investment selling supplies.
