The Square America 2006 Preview
Hey folks, I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays- while you guys were busy partying we here at Square America were busy planning our photo shows for the new year. Here are a few of the shows you can look out for in 2006.
1
What Was (or some notes towards a complete accounting, rendered in photographs, of everything that has ever happened)
This show will basically be every photograph from my collection that is hand-dated with at least a month and year, arranged chronologically. I will also include any text written on the photo. Some photos will have a good deal of text, some just the date. The show will be a big one- I'll launch it with between 300-400 photos and try to add another 100 or so each month. Here are a few examples.

"Della Thelma Lollar was found up in this tree in Okla. 7/19/18"
"July 11- '23 Lake Chapman"

"June 9, 1959 Mary Bart's 'Bon Voyage' cake"

"Taken in March, 1962, in rear of First Baptist Church, Salt Lake City, by friend Frederick W. Pavlis, at close of Sunday School, with snow coming down, trousers slightly wrinkled and wet."
2
This is How the World Ends
A show of fires, floods, and wars- the end of world and what was left behind.

3
Lighter Than Air
A show of photographs of Zeppelins, Blimps, and Balloons (this may also be combined with a bunch of photos of planes to make a larger show- Excerpts from the Annals of Aviation).

4
On the Road
A show of photographs taken inside, outside, of, on, or about cars.

5
The Music Makers
The title pretty much says it all.

Other shows may (or may not) include
Instant Art: a show of Polaroids and other "instant" photos

2-D: A show of photos of photos, signs, paintings, and other two-dimensional objects.

and For the Birds: A show of photographs of our feathered friends.
I also have some exciting non-web projects in the works, the most notable being a show of highlights from my snapshot collection at the Carl Hammer Gallery here in Chicago Feb. 10th- March 25th, so if you're in the Chicagoland area make sure to stop by and check it out!
