(Part 1: The Photos)

A couple of years ago I was at a flea market here in Chicago and one of the dealers who I often buy photos from told me to take a look at a pile of photos but he warned me that it wasn't the kind of thing that he normally sells. In the box were about 75 photos- almost all commercially produced spanking fetish photos from the 1950s as well as a bunch of newspaper clippings and letters. The box and everything in it reeked of mold. I held my nose and just looked through the photos and bought a few. Later I went back with a friend of mine, Keith Sadler, who took one look at the clippings and letters and bought the entire lot. After he bought the box we went through it and I realised I had blown it big time- almost all of the newspaper clippings (some twenty years worth) dealt with spanking in some way or another. More than that, mixed in among the clippings were a series of graphic spanking letters written to this man by his wife over the course of about 6 years. The letters, 14 in all-- some written on the back of their child's homework-- are perhaps the strangest, most disturbing, and ultimately heartbreaking items I've come across in my 12 years collecting photos. Keith, who incidently contributed many great non-spanking photos to my new book, was nice enough to let me share several of the letters and clippings as well as a few photos to add to the ones I bought myself (his photos have the initials ks underneath them). Taken together, they form a sad account of one man's obsession and its impact on his marraige. For the record, both the husband and wife are deceased, as is their only child who as far as I can tell never married and had no children. WARNING: The following photos are NSFW.
